Best practice Report
- Title of the practice:
Detection of blood group, hemoglobin and blood sugar level.
- Objectives:
- Everyone should know his/her blood group so that no time is wasted at the time of emergency, prior to blood transfusion.
- The most important reason to know your blood type if you are in a situation where you require a blood transfusion you’ll need compatible blood.
- Hemoglobin test is used to find out how much Hb is in your blood?
- It is most often used to determine if you have low levels of R.B.C. (anemia).
- Hb is protein in our blood cells that carries oxygen to our body’s organs and tissues and transports carbon dioxide from organs, tissues back to lungs.
- A blood glucose test is used to find out if your blood sugar levels are in a healthy range.
- It is often used to help diagnose and monitor diabetes.
- The context:
Every person should know their blood group, hemoglobin percentage, blood sugar level. As this are the important physical process which are related with human body. Which play a important role during serious medical problems. The human body has 4 blood groups in the ABO system are A, B, AB and O.
The hemoglobin percentage for normal male is 14 to 18g/dl that for female is 12 to 16 g/dl. Normal range of Hb depends on diet and physical exercise.
A fasting blood sugar level of 99 mg/dL or lower is normal, 100 to 125 mg/dL indicates you have pre-diabetics and 126 mg/dL or higher indicates you have diabetes.
During this busy life most people unable to focus themselves and that’s why they have to face many medical problems related to health.so this is best way to check up routinely.
- The practice:
P.G. department of zoology has conducted 6 blood group detection camps, 3 hemoglobin detection camps and 2 blood sugar detection camps. Which is benefited to staffs, students.
- Evidence of success:
During this checkup some students, staffs found low Hb, some found very high sugar level. The reports, list of names, photo plates are attached along with it.
- Problems encountered and resource required:
The following resources are required during blood group, hemoglobin and blood sugar detection camp:
– Toothpicks, alcohol swabs, lancet, clean glass slide, sterile cotton balls, monoclonal antibodies (Anti A, B, D), Sahli’s Haemoglobino-meter, hydrochloric acid, Digital glucometer.
During this we face some problems like some people experience mild pain, dizziness, after the test a slight bleeding, hemolysis, and clotting, insufficient samples.
