       The  Lal Bahadur Shastri College of Arts,Science and Commerce, is settled in hart of the Satara City which city was known the Kingdom of Maratha. In this college the Department of History  has been  major department on the Arts side since 1967.We have conducted  special activities for students, Dr Appasheb Pawar History Association, Invited well known guest lecturer ,Hon. Shambhuraje Desai,MLA.,Dr. Bhaskar Dhatawkar,Director of Archeology Dept.Mumbai ,Dr. Deepak Despande, HOD of Tilk Maharashtra University.etc.We visited  historical places for study and to aware the students for conservation of the places. Organized  Historical Exhibition, National Conference.

        We take pride in stating that our teachers are actively involved in co-curriculum, research, cultural, N.S.S.,social work and have participated in International and National Seminar, Conference .Completed  MRP.,published and presented research papers at  Shrilanka , Shingapur. Have got awards of various activities.

      Itihash  Mahotsav  and  visited  to Excavation place, have been the highlights of our department. We have been Coordinating the Certificate Course on Human Rights, conducted by U.G.C. since the last five years.
