DBT-STAR College

Introduction      

          DBT-STAR College, also known as the Department of Biotechnology – Scheme for Transformational and Advanced Research in Sciences (DBT-STAR), is an initiative launched by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) in India. The program aims to enhance the quality of undergraduate education in life sciences and biotechnology across colleges and universities in the country.

             DBT-STAR College focuses on upgrading infrastructure, curriculum, and teaching methodologies in undergraduate science programs, with a particular emphasis on life sciences and biotechnology. The program aims to nurture a culture of research and innovation among undergraduate students by providing them with access to state-of-the-art laboratories, advanced equipment, and research opportunities.

             Through DBT-STAR College, selected institutions receive financial support from the Department of Biotechnology to establish modern laboratory facilities, develop specialized courses, organize workshops, seminars, and conferences, and engage students in research projects under the guidance of experienced faculty members.

            The program aims to bridge the gap between academic institutions and the industry by imparting practical skills and knowledge to students, thereby enhancing their employability and fostering entrepreneurship in the biotechnology sector.
