Department at Glance

The Department of Geography was established in 1967. The department offer programs are Under Graduate (UG), Post Graduate (PG), and Career Orientated Courses (COCs)/ Short term courses. The Department has well-qualified Teaching faculty including 03 Ph.D. and NET/ SET qualified and 02 are Masters of Arts with Gold Medallists. We have a well-equipped Geography Laboratory with having adequate number of computers, internet connectivity, GIS software, and Geographical instruments.

The Department of Geography also runs Certificate Courses in Remote Sensing, GIS, GNSS, and others related to these in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS). Our college is a Nodal center of IIRS, Dehradun. This course is an online course and it is conducted at college using video conferencing. Students comprising of present students, some faculty members, alumni of the department, and others are enrolled in this course.

The Department of Geography is known for its contribution to research. It provides an educational environment where students acquire knowledge about geospatial technology. Teachers & students are also conducting interdisciplinary research concerned with socio-economic & geo-environmental problems.
