Department at Glance

The Lal Bahadur Shastri College was started by educationalist and social reformer Dr Bapuji Salunkhe in 1967with Arts and Commerce faculty. The Department of Chemistry was established in 1967 as under graduate course. From 2013, we have newly started P.G. course with Analytical Chemistry Section to meet the overwhelming response of Chemistry graduates. From 2013 university authority has given affiliation to start Ph. D. and M. Phil. degrees to our department. Presently eight Ph. D research student working under the guidance of Dr. R. V. Shejwal, Dr. C.  P.  Mane and Dr A. M. Nalawade. Our department is running course Cast iron Foundry Technology . A grant of 1.33 crore has been received from UGC, New Delhi for smooth conducting of these courses. The department of Chemistry is the prime department of our College having 550students in U.G. courses and 45 students in P.G. courses. The department has recognized by pharmaceutical industries as a producer of the scientific manpower. Pharmaceutical industry like Cipla, US Vitamin, Lupin, Ranbaxy and Agrochemical industries like Gharada, etc.
